This year's Iris fiction competition is all about merging ancient myths with the modern world!
In October, The Iris Project, in association with the University of Oxford, is opening a brand new community classics centre. The centre has been painted with striking wall murals which merge scenes from around Oxford city with classical myths.
To celebrate this, we are looking for poems or prose which explore the idea of mixing an ancient myth with a modern setting!
You can either write a poem or a short piece of prose. The maximum length for all entries is 30 lines, and entries should be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject line “IRIS COMPETITION”, and your name and age.
The winning entrants will get their entries displayed in the new classics centre as part of an ancient and modern exhibition, as well as receiving a signed copy of a Classical book; their entry will also be featured in the next edition of the Iris annual and on our website Iris online.
The deadline for entries is December 20th, 2013.
Good luck to everyone!
